Through the collaboration, UnitedHealth Group's Optum will use its analytics and support tools to help Walmart Health clinicians deliver value-based care to Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. The partnership is starting at 15 locations in Florida and Georgia with the potential to grow in the future.

Transcarent, which is works with companies to steer their employees toward higher-quality, lower-cost care, struck a partnership with Walmart. It will offer Walmart’s health services, including its prescription prices, to self-insured companies.
Dr. Thomas Van Gilder, Walmart’s first chief medical officer, will leave the company in May. Walmart’s head of dentistry, Dr. Roshan Parikh, also left the company. Both had a role in helping design some of the first clinics for Walmart Health.
The retailer plans to open primary care clinics in Houston, El Paso, Austin, Phoenix and Orlando by next summer as part of its partnership with startup VillageMD.
The plans will include zero-dollar premiums and will give patients access to free primary care visits, dental exams and lab tests at Walmart Health centers across the state.

Walmart Health disclosed that it plans to open nine more clinics this year, including two in Chicago and seven in Georgia. For next year, it has seven planned clinics in Jacksonville and is looking to Orlando and Tampa as well.
